The Cambridge Examinations

The English language examinations of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) are among the most widely recognised in the world. About 750,000 people around the world take these exams each year.

There are five main exams: the Key English Test (KET), the Preliminary English Test (PET), the First Certificate in English (FCE), the Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) and the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).

Preparing for the Cambridge Exams

The best way to prepare for the Cambridge Exams at King's School is to take the General Intensive course. It will follow a syllabus which is right for the exams at your level. In the afternoons you will take a Special Interest Group class which will provide intensive examination practice in the weeks before the exam. These courses may be taken as part of the General Intensive Course or as an afternoons-only course (6 hours per week). Special Interest Groups (six-week courses) preparing for the Cambridge exams normally start six weeks before the relevant exam dates below, though we advise you to check with the school for availability.
